Sheraton Grand Wild Horse Pass Security upgrade and IT cleanup
Security System Upgrade & IT Infrastructure Modernization
Client: Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Duration: 40 Days
Scope:
Replacement of 106 security cameras
Structured cabling infrastructure upgrade
Full IT space cleanup and reorganization
New IDF, fiber backbone, and network build-out at the boathouse
Updated labeling and documentation aligned with new network segregation protocols
The Challenge
The Sheraton Grand’s sprawling layout and diverse architectural features presented significant complexities in upgrading the existing security and IT systems.
Complex Cabling Pathways: Running new cable lines through concealed, multi-structure environments required detailed discovery and planning.
Boathouse Privacy Sensitivities: Ensuring effective surveillance of the boathouse and rental areas without infringing on guest privacy demanded strategic camera placement and discreet installation.
Network Segregation & Labeling: Transitioning to a segmented network required complete re-labeling and documentation across all IT spaces.
Our Solution
AQ Communications deployed a forward-thinking strategy to tackle the project with minimal disruption and maximum precision.
Advanced Site Surveying: Leveraging drones and remote-controlled vehicles, we accessed difficult-to-reach areas and mapped optimal cabling routes before physical installation began.
Discreet Installation Tactics: Our team pre-ran pathways and string lines in advance, avoiding intrusive work in guest-facing areas. At the boathouse, we collaborated with Sheraton’s facilities team to bore underground pathways and place cameras with care, maintaining both security and discretion.
Network Clarity: We introduced a new structured labeling system that aligned seamlessly with the updated, segregated network, improving organization and future scalability.
Collaboration & Execution
Our Operations and Project Management teams worked closely with Sheraton’s Head of Security, Network Manager, and Operations Manager throughout the duration of the project. Daily coordination, clear communication, and agile problem-solving ensured the project remained on schedule and aligned with all stakeholder expectations.
The Result
The full project was completed in just 40 days. The client was extremely satisfied with the outcome—praising the professionalism, innovation, and quality of work. AQ Communications has since been recommended for additional projects across Sheraton and Marriott properties nationwide.
